Finding Peace in Parenting Your ADHD Teen

Sep 18, 2025

Parents often ask me, “How are you so patient?” They notice how I can stay calm even when working with kids who struggle with challenges like washing their hair, and they wonder how I do it.

One mom in my coaching program recently reached out after watching a video of mine. She admitted, “I just get so frustrated helping a younger child take a bath. I want to rush through it, dump water on their head, and be done — even if it’s upsetting for them.”

Her honesty made me smile, because a few years ago, that was exactly me. Back then, I was impatient, uptight, and always pushing for things to be done a certain way and on a certain schedule. Even an old therapist I worked with was surprised when she heard I had become a parent coach — she remembered me as my old self: not always calm, and many times impatient and distracted.

But over time, I shifted. I learned how to let go of unnecessary pressure. I discovered how to stay present, instead of being controlled by stress. And this changed everything — my relationships, my parenting, and the peace in my home.

Here’s the truth:

  • Parenting isn’t about demanding more or piling on new rules.

  • It’s not about forcing a child through a moment just to get it over with.

  • It’s about creating connection, even in the hard moments.

When we can put aside frustration and approach our kids with patience, it transforms not only them — but us. The home becomes calmer. The parent–child bond grows stronger. And peace becomes possible, even in situations that once felt overwhelming.

This is the work I do with parents every day: helping them find calm, presence, and connection with their children. I know it’s possible because I lived the change myself.

If you’re ready to bring more peace into your parenting and your home, I invite you to reach out. I’d love to hear what you’re experiencing and walk with you on this journey.
